I'm still crying over the 61 G80CS I let get away! My 1946 G8L (yes, that is what is stamped on the case) looks good but needs some work to get running.

Great site. I owned a '53 (or '52) Matchless back in the 60's...fond memories that are evoked by this site especially the picture of the G9 Clubman.

A WONDERFUL web-site, well done! I'm a transplanted "LIMEY" now in Maine, where nobody ever heard of anything but Harley! (Poor sods!) I grew up with all this GOOD stuff, now at 52 I am returning to my childhood experiences. Thanks for helping preserve these & ALL great English bikes.

Great website! Just finished a 10-year restoration of my 1966 G80CS. It's a beaut, and starts most of the time on the 1st or 2nd kick. Thanks to Don Madden, Mark Siefert, British Marketing and many others. So, I'm ready to go to our National Rally!

I owned a Matchless twin in the late 50's. It was a 1953 600cc swing-arm framed model, which was probably a G-9. I'm not exactly sure of the model type, but I sure did love the sound it made from those megaphone mufflers which were hollow. Everyone in town knew when I was coming. I'm a little older now, and had hoped to find a classified section on your website as I would be interested in buying a late model (50's-60's) single road bike.

Hello,
I have had this bike for about 11 years. I'm not sure of the model, but I believe it's a 500cc single cylinder. Need input on where to start as far as restoring goes. Great site you have built and very informative.

Back in the sixties I rode Manx Nortons in Australia but have been out of the bike business since I retired in the late sixties. I now restore old Ferrari cars in the US and while photographing one recently the owner also had a 1958 AJS 7R he is restoring. I'd like any info anyone might have that would help us locate anybody still making parts for this bike .
