Isn't this a beauty! The 500cc "long stroke" G80CS and its AJS cousin the 18CS were produced from 1951 through 1955 when they were replaced by the shorter stroke, larger bore models that used the same numeric codes. The bore of these early G80CS's was 3 1/4", while the 1956 through 1967 (final version) models had a bore of 86mm. These torquey singles were really "dual sport" bikes, fitted with quick disconnect lights, and were ready for the road, trail or desert. They were popular in the early Big Bear and Catalina events, and were an ideal enduro mount in their day. This 1953 G80CS was restored to original specifications in 1994 and is correct in every detail except for the larger Lucas 529 tail light fitted for safety reasons. They sold new for £220.
