AJSMOC Guestbook January/February/March 1998 Archive
This page contains the January/February/March 1998 postings for our guestbook.
Nice to see there are so many old Brit bike fans.
I live in North Eastern North Carolina and have 3 Matchless and one Norton. I don't ride them much but like to look at
them. Would consider selling a couple of them for right price.

I was a AJS Matchless Machanic in the '50s. Owned a '52
'53, '55 that had a .250" stroke added, 20 to 1piston and ran it on 100% methanol, quite well. On race track only.
Am about to buy a '55 single. Can I join the club before buying the bike? Loved those AJ's

Sitting in my lounge room in Darwin is a 1952 500cc AJS compy. Restored by dad he would roll over in his grave if he new I rode it in the Australian Vintgage Scarmble Titles. I just couldn't let all those Greeves & CZ boys have all the fun. May not have won too many races, but certainly did in style and that sound !!! If anyone else out their is mad enough to put one of these beauties around the dirt, drop me a line would love to compare notes. Cheers mates.

Although I have a MKIII Commando as a daily rider, I am owned by a 59 AJS Typhoon, a 59 AJS M31DL, and a 52 M16. Sorry I wasn`t able to get to the club booth or the BBQ, but my duties as a tech inspector for AHRMA pretty well used up all my time. Next year I hope to take a bike to Daytona so I will have a better chance of meeting you all.

This motorbike is an old love of mine. I've owned AMC-bikes
for 25 years now. Started out as a poor student on derelict
Matchless G80 from 1954, which I still own. Many years my
wife and I each rode a bike. My wife's bike, a G3 1949, was
stolen 15 years ago. With a Steib LS 500 sidecar we visited
all countries of Europe and Marocco. Not fast, but enjoyable.
Other bikes: Triumph Bonneville, BSA Lightning, Jawa 250 cc
1953. We have a sailing charter business now and there is
not much time to ride. We mostly drive a Volvo P210 1964 now
for business and fun.

It's a good contact page thanks Wayne- sorry about my first feeble effort.
I'm hoping to get my hands on a 59 G12 that's been in bits since 1965, trouble is the guy who is selling has seen G12's advertised at £2500 and thinks this is worth more than it is. Once I've spent two grand it will be a decent bike but it's probably worth more to a breaker - so I'll need to pay over the odds for it!
Also have a '52 G9, a '66 Norton 650SS and a modern BM.
