My dad was Matt Wright, who produced the blown V4 AJS pre-war and was racing manager at AJS from 48-53, following a stint at Vincent HRD from 1943-48. When I was 16 (in 1950) I was lucky enough to get a short ride on a 500cc AJS Porcupine racing bike. Now have a 7R.

If only I could convince my father (TC) of the benefits of Internet access. He has a garage full of Matchies and spends his retirement writing old fashioned letters on paper. The British mag wants his column by E-mail.

Hi. My dad used to own a Matchless 500 single. I don't know what year it was but he used to take me for rides on it and I loved it. I've thought about buying an AJS 500 single for myself someday! Any ideas on where to look? Thanks to all...

I Have recently purchased a 1961 Matchless Two-stroke single of small size. It is a street bike with low miles, (under 1800 miles) and runs well but needs repainting and possible restoration. I need to know what model it is so I can hunt down a parts or service manual. The only description I can find is the serial #CL15A-10069. I hope someone has Info on this bike as I would be glad to join the owners club if I could only figure out what I have and any Information on it, Thanks to any one that responds!

A family member has a 1952 500cc twin Clubman for sale, with 23,290 miles. Serial #77724, 6 volt electrical system. Repainted a medium blue, seat recovered with a blue manmade seat material. Photos are available. Am interested as to the value of this bike. Starts and runs OK, but not on the road in 30 years.

Very nice web site and active! I just purchased a 1960 G80CS Serial # 3 479. It is said to have been originally owned by Bud Ekins. I would appreciate learning where I can purchase an Owners Manual, appropriate Shop Manual, and Illustrated Parts Manual. Improperly entered address on earlier entry.

HI, Great site lads, I'm inquiring for my Dad who owns what he thinks is a 1927 250cc single Matchless, there has been some dispute over the years as to what actual age the bike is (he fully restored her in 1959 & she's still mint) the oil & gas tank are above the frame & I think that Matchless introduced this feature around 1930. I'll try to send some photos. Could anyone shed some light Cheers Mike Bowman.

I live in a very small town about 60 miles east of Raliegh NC. I have a '61 Matchless G12, it's complete and runs good but needs repainting. I've owned this bike for 25 years. The G12 is for sale for $2000. I also have two Matchless 500 singles I'm keeping. I would like to hear from any other Matchless-AJS owners near to me.

Great site.I would love to see more info/pics on earlier Wolverhampton AJAYS. I dont have access to a scanner to add mine to the collection. It would be great while I'm here if I could appeal to any one who may have a complete L/Weight Sturmney Archer 3 speed hand change gearbox for sale, or parts. Mine is still running but the engagemant dogs have given there last bite and 2nd gear is almost unuseable thankfully the engine has enough "plonk"to manage the leap from 1st to 3rd, with the engine firing at every lamp post it makes quite a contrast to the 12,000 rpm scream from the Kawasaki ZXR. A couple of great fun bikes from opposite ends of the motorcycling spectrum.Incidently it is not possible to get your knee down on vintage machinery without the risk of goin gearchange interface.
