I have an AJS I am trying to restore. The only info I have is the number on the engine.
It is 56/16Ms 30097. I am looking for any information on the model. Thanks!

I bought my 1926 Model R 250cc Matchless in 1968 and have been riding it ever since. I
have been picking up bits and pieces since then and now have 250, 350 and 500 models from
1926 to 1934, most of them awaiting restoration. I have a lot of information on all prewar
Matchless if anyone wants help.

Although I don't currently own an AJS/Matchless/Norton, I've always been interested in
the Marque, especially the G80CS and the Norton P11. Any room in the club for a
"wannabe"? And, assuming I can find one, I'd like to buy a classic within the
next few months.

I Purchased my 1956 350CC AJS in 1977 in France and had a great time for about 200
miles, I started to restore it but moved in the US and shiped it couple years later. It
has been a basket case for way too long now, I need to know where I can find some help
around the San-Francisco area.

I'm new to british bikes and am having a slight problem with oil leaking out of the
primary chain case on my '68 G15 CSR. On the inner case, there are 2 hole near the center.
One for the wires to come out through, and the second i've been told is for some type of
oiler for the secondary chain. If anyone can advice me on what part # that is or what the
name is i would appreciate it!

I own and race various bikes including a Parilla, NSU and Manx Norton. The Historic
Racing Register of New South Wales (Sydney Australia) is holding its state championship
race meeting at Eastern Creek raceway on the 8th and 9th of August. The 9th of August is
dedicated to AJS and Matchless machines. Anybody riding or trailering an AJS or Matchless
to the track will get in free and will be able to parade their bikes around the Grand Prix
track during the lunch break. I know it is probably a liitle too far for most of you to
pop in for the day, but I thought you might like to know anyway. Grat to see web pages
appearing for historic motorcycles. Cheers.

My first bike was a 1954 550 cc AJS twin scrambler. It was beautiful but the primary
cover was a constant problem along with the Lucas "electrics". The bike did hook
me on motorcycles and now 44 years later I'm still still addicted . My running buddy back
then also rode a Matchless Twin. I think it was a 1953 and i'm sure it was maroon. My AJS
was black and chrome with aluminium fenders.

I just got a 1951 Matchless G80- runs fairly well but needs some work. Does anyone know
of a good source for manuals/parts/advice? The key areas needing help are the electricals-
battery doesn't charge; the fuel system gets clogged; and the engine spritzes oil from the
seams. Ideas?? also- this model has a sidecar and I was wondering if anyone knew whether
it was normal to have only three gears? Top speed seems to be only 35 mph?? I'll
appreciate any help! Thanks,
