Im an ex U.K.member,I found the Leeds group a bunch of Prize Pratts, the Driffield group though was excellent (I was one of the original members of this group when it was founded), I dropped out as I lost interest after 13 years in the club, but still have my 1960 G-12 csr, which I have owned since 1964. Very nice to have as a piece of British history but vastly overrated (and overpriced), they are self destructing if used in any reasonable fashion, vibrate enough to blur the vision, leak oil everywhere - thank god for silicon sealer, handle like a sow in labour compared with todays bikes, have mgneto's that let you down all the time, dynamo's that forget how to generate, lights of one candle power, brakes that don't,can bruise your leg from ankle to knee if your get the advance wrong, and these days have "expert pilots" on them who can tell you that you have the wrong transfer on the left leg of your teledraulics - even though they wern't born when the original transfers were put on the teledraulics !. With all thes faults I should get rid of the useless pile of junk, will I ? will I hell, it's part of my sons inheritance when he finally decides to grow up (he is 34) keep on riding - whatever you ride

I own a 1957 Model 30 600 cc twin with 9800 actual miles in unrestored very good condition. It's a one-kick starter with a nice, mellow exhaust note and lovely road manners for paved secondary-road relaxing rides.

Just found the page. From my memories in UK the bike blessing photo must be the 59 Club and Father Bill Shergold. I used to ride amongst many other bikes a 410 ex-works AJS Trials bike in the late 60's. One of the two spares made for the ISDT works team and originally bought by one of their testers John Ewan and sold to me later.

Thanx for a little taste of home while I'm on holiday in Canada. Back home in England I have a Matchless G50 in need of some TLC. Can't wait to get back and take her for a spin but in the meantime, your site is great.

I like the photo gallery. I have just acquired a 1949 G80 similar to the 47 example pictured. Just trying to get the dynamo and magneto up to standard so I can use it!
