This is a great way of meeting people with similar interests. I have restored 1937 G8 500cc Matchless, 1937 18 AJS, 1938 350cc AJS, 1940 G5 side valve 500cc Matchless. I recently stumbled onto the remains of circa 1932 600cc watercooled AJS ?? motor,Burman G/Box with rev gear @ duplex final drive, Bowden carb, Lucas magy and three wheels that were believed to be from the same vehicle.Any ideas what it originally was?

I ride a 1932 AJS TB6 "Big Port." I'm interested in hearing from other owners of 1920's & 30's AJS motorcycles, especially anyone who has the same model as me as I have yet to find another one out there. Also, I organize a classic bike run called the Moto Melee. It's based out of San Francisco and is held in June, check out our website at www.motomelee.com.

My father owned a matchless 500 circa 1952. I have an old black and white photo with a double sidecar taken around 1955. I am very anxious to identify the year and model with the idea of purchasing one that is functional and unrestored so I can gain the experience and fun of restoring it myself. If anyone can assist me in the identification of this bike, I will be glad to send a copy of the photo. Thanks.

Interesting to hear about so many Matchless / AJS still
running in the US.
I am owning a special one, recompleted with Horex parts
(wheels and forke) when I bought it. The entire electrtic I
built my self (ignition and dynamo) due to the "reliability"
of the Lucas parts. It doesn't look original but is more a
bike for every day.
If somebody needs some tips for worne out rockers or automatic
ignition timing, write me a mail.
