AJSMOC Guestbook August, September, October 1998 Archive

This page contains the August, September, and October 1998 postings for our guestbook.

In my youth in England, my last motorbike was a 1961 G12 DL.Many great memories and a repeating dream. Now I live in Toronto and ride a BMW K75S. Another beautiful machine but I would still love to ride/own my ideal from the past. Keep the faith.

My husband's great grandfather was AJS. (By the way, J was for John not Jack as a couple sites list). The family home is being shut down and we've acquired a stack of old pictures, programs from races on the Isle of Mann and a couple of marketing pieces along with a great picture of the "Blessing of the Machines" in an anglican church. Would anybody be interested in having them? We're not motor cycle fans & don't really want to keep them.

I own a 1952 AJS 500 Compy. I am setting up for Classic racing. Can anyone suggest a suitable carby for both scramble and road race. I inherited the bike from my late father fully restored. Keen to correspond with other owners of similar bike who are crazy enought to put them on the track. Cheers mates.

I bought my 1926 Model R 250cc Matchless in 1968 and have been riding it ever since. I have been picking up bits and pieces since then and now have 250, 350 and 500 models from 1926 to 1934, most of them awaiting restoration. I have a lot of information on all prewar Matchless if anyone wants help.

Although I don't currently own an AJS/Matchless/Norton, I've always been interested in the Marque, especially the G80CS and the Norton P11. Any room in the club for a "wannabe"? And, assuming I can find one, I'd like to buy a classic within the next few months.

I Purchased my 1956 350CC AJS in 1977 in France and had a great time for about 200 miles, I started to restore it but moved in the US and shiped it couple years later. It has been a basket case for way too long now, I need to know where I can find some help around the San-Francisco area.

I'm new to british bikes and am having a slight problem with oil leaking out of the primary chain case on my '68 G15 CSR. On the inner case, there are 2 hole near the center. One for the wires to come out through, and the second i've been told is for some type of oiler for the secondary chain. If anyone can advice me on what part # that is or what the name is i would appreciate it!
