Photos from the 2008 Jampot Rallye at Bucksteep

Bill Cawley is a local fellow who has a machine shop business in his barn. He rides a late G80CS. We all should know Ad Coppens - the east's Mr. Matchless! John Gurr rides to the Jampot every year from Montreal. He's a machinist for Air Canada, and his '58 Model 31 is original - having languished for many years in an airplane hanger. John has ridden it many trouble-free touring miles from GA to the Rockies. All 3 build beautiful machines.

There is a tent reserved for AJS and Matchless called the Plumstead Palace.

The center of the Rallye is an open grass area where many of the bikes park. To the left is the fireplace, kept roaring after dark. Behind the camera is the shack which houses the modest facilities, and the porch, another popular gathering place because the keg and notice board are there. Surrounding the center are cabins, tent sites, and an increasing number of Rallyists' RVs. There are also tennis courts and a swimming pool. The latter, after many years of neglect, seems to be under repair.

On the right is the Rallye Master, aka Kahuna, Cranky Franky Palmieri. He must endure 2 years in this position. He did an outstanding job this year, with several kinds of rides, great food, only a tiny bit of rain, and lots of beer (aka beeah). The crowning touch was the catered breakfast in a huge wedding pavilion, followed by the traditional raffle featuring the kahuna at his wittiest.

Frank's Norton is undergoing a major overhaul, so he's been riding his 441 Victor for the past couple of years.

Matchies and Ajays congregate

Tom Dellamargio, of Fairfield, CT, has been working on this G80RR replica for several years. Though not ready to ride, it started and is it ever loud! Tom was a Gold Star racer back in the day, and has one at home.

Drive side of Tom's G80RR project

John bought this very original G80 from Tom Dellamargio's son. It didn't take much to bring it back to dependable condition, and John rode it to the Rallye this year. The points started to close up, but, once they were re-set, she ran nicely. His Nor-less (G80 powered featherbed) is downed by Alphitis, 1-piece bearing failure. The Harris chicken coop contains 2 bacon slicer Guzzis and an Inter among many interesting oldies. Ever heard of a Steen?
